Rafiki is a Swahili and Arabic word that means "friend". We chose this name because we believe that travel is all about making new friends and finding travel companions. We want our guests to feel like they are part of a community when they stay at Hostel Rafiki, and we want them to leave feeling like they have made some new friends along the way. We also chose the name Rafiki because we are fans of The Lion King. In the movie, Rafiki is a wise mandrill who is a trusted advisor to Simba. He is a symbol of friendship, wisdom, and adventure. We hope that our guests will find the same things at Hostel Rafiki.

Hostel Rafiki is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and making a positive impact on the environment. Here are some of the things we are doing:
*We are avoiding plastic all the way. We use reusable cups, plates, and utensils, and we ask our guests to do the same. We also have a recycling program in place, and we compost all of our food scraps.
*We organize open days sometimes to clean around and pick up plastic. We believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment, and we want to do our part to keep our community clean.
*We use a solar system for our hot water. This helps us to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and to save energy.
*We love rescuing street animals and helping them to find a home. We believe that all animals deserve to be loved and cared for, and we are committed to doing our part to help them.

The best time of year to visit Hostel Rafiki is during the spring or fall. The weather is mild during these seasons, and there are fewer tourists. However, Hostel Rafiki is a great place to visit year-round.

Hostel Rafiki is located in Wadi Musa, Jordan, just a short walk from Petra. The distance between Hostel Rafiki and the Visitor Center of Petra is about 1.1 kilometers, or about a 15-minute walk.
However, there are taxis that are available all the time. The cost of a taxi ride from Hostel Rafiki to the Visitor Center is typically between 3-5 JD.
